How Shelfmark works

From raw sensor stream to actionable alert, Shelfmark fuses optical, thermal, and dimensional channels through process-specific defect models trained on your line's production history.

Data ingestion

Connect to your existing line instrumentation

Shelfmark reads from the instrumentation and historians you already have. No new hardware is required in most configurations.

OPC-UA

Direct connection to OPC-UA servers on Siemens, Beckhoff, Rockwell, and B&R controllers.

MQTT

MQTT broker integration for sensor edge devices and IoT gateway streams.

Historians

OSIsoft PI, Aspentech IP.21, and Ignition historian adapters included.

Modbus / EtherNet-IP

Modbus TCP/RTU and EtherNet-IP polling for legacy PLC and sensor networks.

Detection engine

How the model sees what your eyes can't

Individual sensor channels miss correlated defect signatures. Shelfmark fuses channels and compares live patterns against trained process baselines.

Multi-channel fusion

Optical, thermal, and dimensional streams are time-aligned to a shared process clock, then scored as a joint vector. A defect signature that's weak in one channel is often strong in the fused representation.

Baseline learning

During calibration, Shelfmark characterizes your line's normal operating envelope across different grades, speeds, and environmental conditions. Alerts fire on deviation from your baseline, not a generic one.

Root cause attribution

When a defect pattern is detected, Shelfmark attributes the most probable source process variable. Attribution links back to a timestamped sensor trace so review takes minutes, not a shift change discussion.

Alert workflow

Every alert carries its own evidence

Alerts include the timestamped sensor trace, the channel that triggered, and the attributed source variable so your team can act rather than investigate.

Security and deployment

Designed for plant network environments

Shelfmark can run in your DMZ, on-premises within your OT network, or in a private cloud with data never leaving your facility.

On-premises deployment

Run entirely within your plant network. No sensor data traverses the public internet. Suitable for air-gapped or DMZ environments on Enterprise plans.

Encrypted in transit and at rest

All sensor data is encrypted in transit via TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256. Encryption keys can be customer-managed on Enterprise plans.

Role-based access control

Viewer, Operator, and Admin roles. SSO integration via SAML 2.0 available on Production and Enterprise plans. Audit log of all user actions.

Controls documentation on request

Security controls documentation, architecture diagrams, and data flow maps are available for your IT and OT security review under NDA. We respond to vendor questionnaires directly.
